Magneti Marelli in Kragujevac

Agreement on construction of new factory for production of car spare parts in Kragujevac was signed yesterday by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and also Minister of Economy Mladjan Dinkic, the President of Italian ‘Magneti Marelli’ factory and the Mayor of the City of Kragujevac Veroljub Stevanovic.

The value of the investment is EUR 60 millions. The factory shall manufacture spare parts for 200,000 car units annually and shall employ 400 workers.

The agreement was singed within the First international investment conference in the car industry of Serbia being held at the Sava Center. It stipulates introduction of production line for plastic parts within the existing ‘Pas’ factory. Serbia shall provide a non-returnable amount of EUR 10 millions and provide for the new factory to operate in the free customs zone. It shall also provide subsidies of EUR 800 per each newly employed worker.

At opening of the conference Dinkic said that the ‘Fiat Group’ would purchase from the manufacturers of components in Serbia parts in value of EUR 1 billion in 2013. According to his words the total investing in Serbian car industry from 2000 until now are over EUR 1 billion and he expects further investments.
