Museum of Contemporary Art is located in New Belgrade, near the confluence of Sava and Danube river, and neer the Kalemegdan. The museum is architecturally distinguished by its original spatial composition, crystalline volume and good relationship with the environment.

Museum of Contemporary Art is one of the most important works of postwar architecture in this region.
Museum was opened in October 1965th.
Inside the museum there is a continuous space with an open central staircase, without partition walls and corridors. The interior of the museum consists of various types of exhibition space, from large units to the intimate ambiance. Particular conception of inner space and the original architecture of this building are classified as the most interesting example of museum architecture in the world and it represents the object of national interest for the Republic of Serbia.
However, due to the dilapidated building facades, electrical installations, water supply, sewage and air conditioning, since 2002. year, in accordance with the Law on Public Procurement, museum did the study of microclimate optimization, security, lighting, elaborate geometry, fire protection, projects, existing state installations, architectural and construction project of the existing situation, preliminary architectural and building design adaptation, reconstruction-upgrade, external Planning and field installation with a tender for adaptation and the preliminary installation of the reconstruction project-development. Reconstruction of museum was finished in 2008.
